After two inspiring days of events focused on strengthening Scotland–Africa business ties, I’m leaving energised, hopeful, and deeply encouraged by the growing momentum between our regions. For APGB, a boutique consultancy committed to building meaningful bridges between Scottish and African markets, these conversations reaffirm the growing appetite for cross-border collaboration, responsible investment, and inclusive business growth across Africa.

How These Conversations Align with APGB’s Mission

The insights, connections, and ambitions shared across both days echo the core mission of APGB: to bridge Scotland and Africa through informed collaboration, culturally grounded engagement, and strategic guidance that unlocks sustainable business opportunities.

As a boutique consultancy focused on supporting organisations seeking to understand and operate within African markets—particularly Lusophone regions—APGB is committed to helping businesses navigate local contexts, regulatory environments, and partnership ecosystems with confidence and respect.

Events like those hosted by SABA reaffirm the critical importance of building trust-based networks, elevating diverse voices, and fostering inclusive opportunities that benefit professionals and communities on both sides. The enthusiasm from Scottish women in business exploring Africa, combined with the expertise shared by African diplomats, academics, and industry leaders, highlights exactly the kind of cross-border energy APGB aims to champion.

At APGB, we believe that growth happens when people with shared values come together, listen deeply, and collaborate with intention. These two days served as a powerful reminder that Scotland and Africa are not just neighbours in global commerce—they are natural partners with aligned ambitions.

As we carry these conversations forward, APGB remains dedicated to supporting businesses, entrepreneurs, and institutions ready to explore Africa’s evolving markets, build sustainable partnerships, and contribute meaningfully to the prosperity of the regions they enter.

Here’s to stronger connections, purposeful collaboration, and new opportunities that reflect the very best of what Scotland and Africa can achieve together.

What stood out most was the authenticity of the dialogue. From discussions on cross-border collaboration to women-led innovation in emerging African industries, the atmosphere was rich with possibility. It was a space where ambition met practical insight, and where shared challenges were met with collective problem-solving. The Speaker from the the co-founder of SABA, to the High Comissioner of Uganda to brilliant academics thar shared their entusiasm and openness to add value to female business cmmunites.

The commitment these women showed—not only to business growth but also to building relationships rooted in mutual respect—was genuinely inspiring. Africa presents dynamic opportunities, and seeing Scottish women proactively exploring them is a testament to how global-minded and forward-thinking this community has become.
